Statisticienne: Women of Color vs. Men of Color on Corporate Boards

Catalyst has done some terrific research on women on corporate boards. Their census on Fortune 500 boards reveals some troubling statistics on the composition of corporate boards, in terms of gender and race. You can find the Catalyst study here.

Out of the 266 companies (Fortune 500) that confirmed the ethnic makeup of their boards, women of color held approximately 3.4% of board seats.

Statisticienne Breakdown
White men – 73.1% = 194 seats
White women – 13.1% = 35 seats
Black men – 6.8% = 18 seats
Latinos – 2.4% = 6 seats
Black women – 2.3% = 6 seats
Asian men & Latinas – 0.8% = 2 seats each group (4 seats total)
Asian women & Other men of color – 0.3% = 1 seat
Native American men – 0.1% = 1 seat
Native American women – 0.0% = 0 seats
Other women of color – 0.0% = 0 seats

Women of color vs. Men of color
Men of color = 10.4% = 28 seats
Women of color = 3.4% = 9 seats

Men occupy 76% of the 37 seats held by people of color.
